Les Cameleons - a Graphic Novel Review
First World War veteran Theo married after the war with Elsa, the widow of a soldier from the same regiment that Theo served in. The soldiers from this regiment were called Chameleons because they were all painters who took care of camouflage. Theo gets mysterious letters. He wants to find out who sent these letters, because this person could reveil a secret. And Theo has something to hide.
Although the temptation is great, I do not want to tell too much of this story by Henri Fabuel, because it is a brilliant story. Constantly I keep wondering who send these letters and it is also very interesting to learn more about the characters. It is also nice to read about these Chameleons because we never read or hear so much about them.
This graphic novel is beautifully realistically drawn by Fabrice Le Hénanff. Every illustration is a mini-painting, beautifully done. The colours, of the flashbacks that take place on the battlefield, splashes from the pages. There is also plenty of room for large page-filling illustrations.
A beautiful album, my compliments to the makers. Highly recommended.
